THE TEAM
Harry Burnett, the Medical Director is an ex GP and has now been working in sports medicine/musculoskeletal medicine for over 20 years and is one of Scotland's leading sports medicine physicians. He was involved with the Scottish Rugby Union for over 15 years including 3 years as medical Director and was also lead physician for the Scottish Commonwealth Games Team in 2002. As well as specialising in sports medicine, Harry has a special interest in chronic and acute pain arising from muscle and soft tissue injuries and reviews all forms of musculoskeletal problems whether related to sport or not. If anyone can fix you, it’s Harry!
Lesley Kempsell graduated from Grampian School of Physiotherapy in 1984 with a diploma in physiotherapy. Since graduating, she has worked mainly in private practice after an initial 3 years in the NHS. Lesley has specialised in musculoskeletal outpatients for over 15 years and has been involved in treating international swimmers, professional tennis players and junior rugby players. Lesley was previously an international swimmer and now enjoys tennis, squash and running.
Kirsty Copland completed a degree in Physiology in 1994 before qualifying as a physiotherapist with an MSc in Rehabilitation Science from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1998. Since graduating in physiotherapy, Kirsty has specialised in treating musculoskeletal disorders and sports injuries both in the NHS and private practice and has been involved in treating all levels of sports people from the recreational athlete to those in professional sports including football, rugby, tennis and basketball. Kirsty has competed internationally in dinghy sailing and enjoys skiing, mountain biking, golf and tennis in any spare time she has.
Kate Christie originally from Aberdeen completed her studies at RGU, started working as a fitness instructor then moved to NZ to pursue physiotherapy. Moving back to the UK in 2009 she completed further studies in Orthopaedic Medicine and worked in the NHS as well as the Regional Rehab Unit for the MOD in Edinburgh. Kate’s main sports experience lies in football and rugby and has a personal interest in fitness training, Pilates and long-distance running.
